As you remember, I liked my book so much that I could not wait for some free time for starting reading it.
That's why I've already read half of the book. But I'm not going to tell you all interesting facts about the plot now because you should learn new vocabulary before you will start reading the next part of the plot.
So, in the beginnig of the story we got to know the girl. Her name is Holly and she stricken with grief because her husband Gerry was dead. He had a tumor growing inside his brain. His death was not sudden because before it he was ill for year, as I remember. Holly had to start the new life. The life without Gerry. It was very very hard for her. I felt great pity for her.
Holly had a big family - her mother, farther, sisters and brothers. The relations between the members of the family was not very warm, but they loved each other. Also, Holly had best friends Sharon and Denise. All theese people tried to help Holly to stand this life test.
But once Holly's life seemed to be absolutely changed again. Among the Gerry's things she found a pile of envelopes. It was from Gerry to her and it contained instructions how she should behave to make her life easier and to start a new life as quick as possible.

Instead of 'very very hard'you can say 'extremely hard'

What traits of character make you like / dislike Holly? Gerry? Sharon? etc.
Rita,was it easy for you to read this kind of book? When I read your post I immediately remember the film "A walk to remember" ...The main character also had the mortal disease.The film was excellent,the impression was huge, but now, I don't know why, I try to read books which were not obsessed with soon death because of disease.

Masha, this book is very interesting to read. Of course, sometimes it is very sad, I feel sorry for the main heroine because her husband was everything for her and then he died. She did not know how to live without him and while reading I am trying to imagine what I would do if I were her. Also, there are some descriptions of the Holly's feelings where I was really crying. All in all, my book is nice to read.

Unfortunately, I haven't read the book, but the film was amazing. I think, it's the best love story. It's so cute to realize that even, dying Gerry was thinking only about his wife and it's difficult to undersand how did he manage to think over such a plan. It only shows that he and Holly were made to each other but every bullet has its billet( That is one the most touching stories I've ever seen.

ОтветитьУдалитьNikita, I didn't expect you to like such films. And you gave me some chance to believe that the film is good because your comment is the first positive one I've heard. All my friends believe that the film is awful.
This film was not so interesting for me. Yes, it had been very romantic and cute, but I could remember only the beginning and some fact from the end. And I believe that if the film is really good you will be remember even some insignifican details. And I know that the plot of the book differs from this film. So, some author's ideas were lost.
