Dear diary,
Today I would like to discuss a very important question with you. What do you think about signs of English culture in our book? You know, our story is not that one which has clear links showing us the culture. The scene was set at these time of day so we cannot say much about the features of the time and culture and even of the language. There is nothing outstanding for me at the first glance.
Thinking about it more I understood that every page of the book had its own spirit. The spirit of England. We could see typical English detached houses, people were fond of gardening, English traditions. For example, charecters had family dinner every Sunday.
In conclusion, darling, you should not think that some books had no signs of the country. Each book about the people has its own spirit.

I agree with your opinion entirely as the author of the book is a representative of his/her culture and describing the characters, their way of living he/she cannot escape expressing culture.
ОтветитьУдалитьIt's good you summoned some of the traits of the English culture, but your analysis would be deeper if you added quotes from text, included details and analyzied the characters, for example from the point of representing any of characteristics that are considered typically British. You should have included descriptions of nature, if there are some, which is directly connected with the topic we've studied.
